DC Public Library Foundation Story Time Gala – Washington, DC
In late 2015, the DC Public Library Foundation (DCPLF) approached Rendezvous seeking help with a new fundraising gala planned for February of the following year. The DCPLF planning committee had already adopted a “Story Time” event theme, but needed help bringing their vision to life within the MLK Library space in downtown DC. Budget for the event was limited, and many practical questions surrounded the notion of bringing a major event together in a working library environment. Working closely with the Foundation’s Executive Director and members of the planning committee, we tackled these challenges head on, conceiving and creating an event design that featured popular children’s stories and storybook themes. At the Foundation’s request, we commissioned a number of DC area community artists to manage production and installation of the event design elements.
In addition to leading the event design process, Rendezvous also supported the Foundation with catering design and vendor management, start to finish technical production, graphic design and printing, entertainment sourcing, and onsite event staffing.
