National Math Festival – Washington, DC

2015 National Math Festival

1 day
7 venues
70 different lectures and activities
20,000+ happy lovers of math!

We think the statistics speak for themselves! A free and open-to-the-public first-of-its kind event on the National Mall, the National Math Festival was launched in 2015 to celebrate the delight and power of math in everyday life. From scavenger hunts and Houdini-like getaways, to Oobleck Olympics and hyperbolic stars, to lectures with some of the most influential mathematicians of our time – Rendezvous was there when it counted, supporting Festival hosts with event design, venue coordination, site layout and crowd logistics, technical design and production, video and graphics management, sponsor fulfillment, speaker and talent management, volunteer recruiting and training, onsite staffing, vendor procurement and budget administration.

In 2015, the Festival was presented by the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute in cooperation with the Institute for Advanced Study and the Smithsonian Institution. In the days leading up to the Festival, Rendezvous also supported MSRI with the production of a Festival Gala at the Library of Congress, a policy briefing in the U.S. Senate, an education workshop for policymakers and academic thought-leaders, and a press conference announcing a new math-inspired book prize. A biennial event, we are looking forward to bringing this special event to life again at the 2017 National Math Festival at the Washington Convention Center.
